Yungblud has announced the cancellation of several upcoming shows due to health issues. This announcement follows his recent performance at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert “Back to the Beginning.” The artist shared the news through his Instagram account.
The announcement addressed his fans directly about the medical diagnosis that forced the show cancellations.
“Dundee, I have some bad news,” Yungblud said. “This morning I was diagnosed with tonsillitis. I’m trying to get them out, but I need to find some time as obviously I’m on the road all the time.”
He continued explaining the doctor’s recommendations and his disappointment about the situation.
“The doctor has asked me to stay in bed for two days to make sure I don’t do any damage to my voice,” he said. “I’m so sorry. I never wanna let any of you down. These intimate shows mean so much to me. Being close to you all means so much to me.”
The artist concluded by providing information about rescheduling and his upcoming commitments.
“I’m gonna have to reschedule the show for a later date but I’ll be there in Liverpool on Friday,” he said. “Information will be provided in the coming days. I love you all.”
This health setback highlights the physical demands that touring musicians face. These demands are particularly challenging when maintaining rigorous performance schedules across multiple countries.
GoodRx explained that tonsillitis occurs when the tonsils become inflamed due to bacterial or viral infections. The condition causes symptoms like sore throat and difficulty speaking or singing clearly. The condition requires proper rest to prevent further vocal damage. This makes it particularly challenging for performing artists who rely on their voice.
Geo TV reported that Yungblud is currently on an extensive international tour spanning 17 different countries. This adds complexity to managing health issues while maintaining his demanding schedule. The cancelled show in Dundee at LIVVEHOUSE was originally scheduled for July 10. His next confirmed appearance is set for Liverpool on July 11.
The timing of this illness is particularly significant given Yungblud’s recent high-profile performance at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert. The demanding nature of such performances puts additional strain on artists’ vocal health. Constant travel and limited recovery time compound these challenges.
Medical professionals emphasize that vocal rest is crucial during tonsillitis recovery. Continued strain can prolong healing time and potentially cause long-term damage to the vocal cords. This medical reality forces artists to make difficult decisions between disappointing fans and protecting their long-term career prospects.
Further details about the rescheduled dates are expected to be announced soon.
