Since the 2010s, Slash has composed spooky music that’s been used at Universal Studios Hollywood’s annual Halloween Horror Nights haunted-house attractions. This year, the Guns N’ Roses guitarist has created the score for a haunted house called “Scarecrow: Music by Slash.”
This marks the seventh consecutive year that Slash has contributed original soundtrack music to a Halloween Horror Nights at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park in Universal City, California. The 2025 Halloween Horror Nights festivities kick off Thursday, September 4, run through November 2.
The “Scarecrow: Music by Slash” house showcases a storyline where Mother Nature seeks retribution against homesteaders for their past sins. A slew of vengeful farmland scarecrows are unleashed to wreak destruction on the settlers or anyone who crosses their path.
Visitors to the haunted house will hear Slash’s ominous score as they navigate the corridors of the attraction.
Those attending the 2025 Halloween Horror Nights event also will have the chance to purchase a new vinyl-only compilation featuring music Slash composed for previous haunted attractions. Slash: Music of Universal Studios Hollywood – Halloween Horror Nights, Volume 2 will be available exclusively at Universal Studios Hollywood. The 10-track collection includes soundtrack music featured at various haunted houses spanning from 2018 through 2024. The new album is the follow-up to a 2024 limited-edition vinyl-only compilation that’s now sold out.
A variety of ticket options for the 2025 Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood are available now. Visit UniversalStudiosHollywood.com for more information. The haunted houses will be open on select evening from September 4 through November 2.
Slash’s Statement About Halloween Horror Nights
Slash has issued a statement expressing his enjoyment in contributing to the Halloween Horror Nights attractions.
“As a longtime fan of Halloween Horror Nights, it has been incredibly rewarding to not only have experienced the event as a guest, but to have partnered with Universal Studios Hollywood for so many years to create an array of original music that intensifies the storylines of these haunted houses,” he said. “This year’s collaboration … and the chance to become one of the event’s marquee experiences is truly humbling. … I can’t wait for the guests to join me when they step into the terror.”
Added Halloween Horror Nights executive producer John Murdy, “Slash has been an important creative partner for years creating memorable music that has completely elevated our Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses. “Creating a series of Slash-inspired interactive experiences was a natural progression for the event[.] … [I]t’s an honor to headline Universal’s horror legacy with Slash.”
Another Slash-Themed Attraction at the 2025 Halloween Horror Nights
Besides the “Scarecrow” haunted house, 2025 Halloween Horror Nights will feature a special Slash-themed bar and eatery.
Slash Bar, located at Jurassic Cove above the Jurassic World ride, will offer several cocktails inspired by the Guns N’ Roses legend’s music. It also will feature a menu that includes some of Slash’s favorite foods, as well as a Slash Hat Cake shaped like the rocker’s trademark top hat. Visitors to the venue will be greeted by a stilt-wearing actor dressed as a ghoulish Slash, who will “taunt and torment guests in his path.”
