Sammy Hagar has unveiled the star-studded lineup of musicians who will join him for Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance. He shared the announcement through his Instagram.
The rock veteran expressed his excitement about the supergroup formation and their upcoming performance at the ‘Back to the Beginning’ concert. The Instagram post featured a photo showing the assembled musicians including Nuno Bettencourt, Adam Wakeman, Chad Smith, Vernon Reid, Rudy Sarzo, and Tom Morello.
“This ain’t no ordinary backup band,” Hagar said. “This is a bunch of musician friends that are about to fuck some shit up Saturday night in Birmingham, England for the Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance.”
He continued with enthusiasm about their preparation for the historic show. “Rehearsal was off the charts can’t wait for Saturday live streaming,” he added.
This supergroup announcement comes as part of what promises to be one of the most significant metal events in recent history. The ‘Back to the Beginning’ concert represents far more than just another rock show. It marks a historic farewell that has drawn attention from metal fans worldwide.
Metal Injection reported that the event will reunite the original Black Sabbath lineup of Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward performing together for the first time in 20 years at Villa Park in Birmingham, their hometown and the birthplace of heavy metal. The significance of this reunion cannot be overstated. It brings together the founding fathers of heavy metal on their home turf.
For Ozzy Osbourne, who has been living with Parkinson’s disease, this performance carries special emotional weight. Metal Injection confirmed that this will be his final live performance. While he may not complete a full set, he is confirmed to sing four songs. This marks a poignant close to his legendary career that has spanned over five decades.
The scale of this farewell event reflects the massive impact Black Sabbath has had on music history. Blabbermouth noted that more than 40,000 fans are expected to attend this monumental show. The concert will also be live-streamed for fans worldwide who cannot make the journey to Birmingham.
The concert serves as both a celebration of Black Sabbath’s legacy and a final goodbye from one of metal’s most influential figures. Hagar’s supergroup performance becomes part of a truly historic musical moment that will likely be remembered as the end of an era in heavy metal history.
