KISS frontman Paul Stanley revealed details about his son Evan and Gene Simmons’ son Nick’s new band in a recent interview on Howie Mandel Does Stuff.
The two second-generation musicians have been collaborating for the past eight months.
“It’s terrific. It’s so funny because they’ve known each other their whole lives and I think it was eight months ago they started singing and playing together,” Stanley said.
The new project, Stanley Simmons, has entered the recording phase with a notable producer.
“They started about eight months ago and they’re neck deep in an album with Rob Cavallo who produced Green Day and I mean, the list just goes on. They’re called Stanley Simmons,” he continued.
Stanley highlighted the band’s unique sound, which differs from their fathers’ legacy.
“Their music is fantastic. It’s somewhere between Crosby, Stills, and Nash and Simon and Garfunkel and a little bit of Alice in Chains. It’s just really like a great group of songs,” he explained.
The band continues their work on their debut album with acclaimed producer Rob Cavallo.
The musicians each bring valuable experience to their collaboration. AXS TV reported that Evan Stanley established his presence in the music industry by fronting the band Amber Wild. His group previously opened for KISS on their “End of the Road” farewell tour.
Consequence detailed Nick Simmons’ diverse creative background. He has worked as a voice actor for Robot Chicken and created the comic book “Incarnate.” His musical credits include vocal performances on Gene Simmons’ 2004 song “Carnival of Souls” and Bruce Kulick’s 2010 track “Hand to the King.”
The duo launched their partnership with an acoustic cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” on Instagram. Their performance drew significant fan attention. Impericon Magazine noted that Stanley Simmons has completed recording 10 original songs. Emmy Award-winning songwriter Jacob Bunton has contributed to the songwriting process.
The band shares regular studio snippets and song previews on social media. Paul Stanley demonstrated his support by commenting “Magic!!!!” on one of their video posts.
