Nikki Sixx Says New Mötley Crüe Release Is For Metalheads and Country Fans

Nikki Sixx recently discussed the cross-genre appeal of Mötley Crüe’s collaboration with Dolly Parton on their new version of “Home Sweet Home” in an interview with Forbes.

Sixx reflected on how music can transcend traditional genre boundaries when asked about his surprise at the response to the collaboration.

“This has been a real joy, and it makes me happy that so many different types of people have responded to the song, like you were talking about it,” Sixx said.

The bassist then shared his personal evolution as a music listener. He contrasted his younger preferences with his current perspective.

“I remember when I was young, I was like, ‘This is my kind of music,’” he said. “I was definitely not into a lot of the records that my mom had in her record collection, all the way to even like Woodstock stuff, like Crosby, Stills & Nash. I’m like, ‘Where’s my Black Sabbath? I want Led Zeppelin, I want Aerosmith.’ That’s what I was about until punk came.”

Sixx explained how his musical tastes have broadened with age and experience.

“But now I would listen to all these albums that I probably never even gave a chance because I’m older and you realize that music’s not so one-dimensional,” he continued. “A song like ‘Home Sweet Home’ can touch a metalhead and it can touch a country person at the same time. And that’s something you just don’t know about a song until it’s been around for a while.”

This collaboration represents more than just a musical experiment for the legendary rock band. It connects to both their upcoming projects and charitable initiatives.

Backstage Axxess reported that the new version of “Home Sweet Home” will be featured on Mötley Crüe’s upcoming compilation album “From The Beginning,” scheduled for release on September 12, 2025. This compilation showcases the band’s journey from their early days performing on the Sunset Strip to their current status as rock icons.

The timing of this release coincides with another major milestone for the band. The Rock Pit noted that Mötley Crüe is preparing to launch a 10-show residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. This marks another chapter in their enduring career.

Beyond the musical collaboration, the project carries a deeper social message. Covenant House confirmed that a portion of the proceeds from the single will benefit their organization, which provides shelter and support to youth experiencing homelessness. This charitable aspect aligns with the song’s central theme of finding comfort and belonging.

The partnership between the metal legends and the country music icon demonstrates how “Home Sweet Home” continues to resonate across different audiences and generations. This reinforces Sixx’s observation about music’s ability to transcend traditional boundaries.
