Corey Taylor’s New Statement Spark Rumors on Slipknot Joining Sabbath Show as a Surprise Act

Corey Taylor’s recent comments about Black Sabbath’s influence have intensified speculation that Slipknot could appear as a surprise act at Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final “Back to the Beginning” concert. BBC reported Taylor’s remarks on Sabbath’s influence.

The Slipknot frontman praised Black Sabbath’s foundational impact on heavy metal music in his latest interview.

“Sabbath gave us the blueprint, Sabbath gave us the recipe,” Taylor said. “They gave us the cookbook, man. The mystique was in the lyrics. It was in the sound. It was in the way that everything was just a little darker.”

Slipknot is not officially listed in the “Back to the Beginning” lineup. However, fans have been sharing theories on platforms like Reddit about the band potentially making a surprise appearance.

One fan previously wrote about Slipknot’s surprise performance on Reddit: “I strongly predict Slipknot will make an appearance.”

Another fan commented: “If Slipknot’s not performing, Sid Wilson’s probably going to be there with Kelly and their son. Ozzy’s mentioned really liking and getting along well with Sid, which I think is sweet.”

The speculation continues to build as fans await the final Black Sabbath show.

Taylor’s tribute to Black Sabbath comes at a particularly significant moment as the band prepares for their farewell performance.

Blabbermouth revealed that the original Black Sabbath lineup featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward has recently been rehearsing together for the final performance scheduled for July 5 at Villa Park, Birmingham. The band members were also seen visiting a mural in Birmingham created to honor them. This highlights the significance of this event as their farewell.

The “Back to the Beginning” concert features a star-studded support bill that includes some of metal’s biggest names. Ultimate Classic Rock confirmed that the lineup includes Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, and Pantera, among others. Many of these artists are expected to cover Black Sabbath songs, paying tribute to the band’s enduring legacy.

However, the farewell show may present some challenges for the legendary frontman. Louder Sound noted that Ozzy Osbourne himself may only perform parts of the set due to ongoing health concerns that have affected his recent performances.

The combination of Taylor’s heartfelt tribute to Black Sabbath’s influence and the mounting fan speculation about surprise guests has created additional anticipation for what promises to be a historic farewell event. Such a prestigious lineup is already confirmed. The possibility of unannounced appearances by bands like Slipknot continues to fuel excitement among metal fans worldwide.
