Chester Bennington’s Son Refuses to Cover Any of His Father’s Music, Explains Why

Jaime Bennington, son of late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, has explained his decision to avoid performing his father’s music in a statement shared on The Picture Pieces Archive.

The statement addressed his personal approach to maintaining his own artistic identity while honoring his father’s memory.

“Out of a desire to maintain my own identity and out of a desire to allow his spirit to rest, I have refused to cover any of my father’s music,” Jaime Bennington said. “In life and in death.”

The comment reflects the younger Bennington’s approach to carving out his own path in music while respecting his father’s legacy.

Jaime’s stance on preserving his father’s musical legacy extends beyond his personal artistic choices. He has been vocal about his concerns regarding Linkin Park’s recent developments.

iHeartRadio reported that Jaime has openly criticized Linkin Park’s decision to replace Chester with new vocalist Emily Armstrong. He expressed feelings of betrayal towards the band. His concerns also include discomfort with Armstrong’s ties to Scientology, which added tension to Linkin Park’s reunion plans.

The younger Bennington has not limited his criticism to personnel changes alone. Alternative Nation noted that Jaime has shared his thoughts on the band’s new album From Zero. He described it as their weakest work to date and felt it does not live up to the hype surrounding the band’s return.

Despite the family tensions surrounding the band’s direction, Linkin Park has moved forward with their plans. Alternative Nation confirmed that the band resumed touring in 2025 with the From Zero World Tour. The tour covers major cities worldwide and includes notable stadium dates like Wembley Stadium in London and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

The ongoing situation highlights the complex dynamics between preserving an artist’s legacy and allowing a band to evolve. This is particularly challenging when family members have strong opinions about the direction being taken.
