Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale told Voice Of America’s (VOA) “Border Crossings” that he and his bandmates have finished recording “I Beat Loneliness” for a 2025 release. The 59-year-old singer commented on why he called the album “I Beat Loneliness”: “Because I think that everyone is struggling the whole time.” He added: “It’s funny because when I think about my career and the songs I’ve written, they say most people write one song over and over, but my theme has always been mental health, feelings, and the landmines of hurt we all face. Everyone has so much broken stuff that they just face it and deal with it. But everyone has these strange triggers, and suicide rates are insane—military, ex-military, men three times more likely than women. Simply said, people hurt. My simple vocation, in the Japanese sense, is making songs about people and feelings. Interestingly, it wasn’t like that when I started. You can lament in songs, but I always wanted this sense of optimism, help, support, community, love, friendship, and kindness. I wrote that way.
“So ‘I Beat Loneliness’, it’s just probably the best title I’ve ever written because, of course, it’s self-fulfilling in its impossibility,” said. “You can’t say you overcame loneliness because it suggests you’re a melancholy person who beat it for 20 minutes and it comes back the next day like a boomerang. I like the bravado idea. That’s strength. Not bravado. Overcoming adversity is strength.”
2024 commemorated the 30th anniversary of BUSH’s six-times-platinum breakthrough album “Sixteen Stone”.
Bush celebrated their 30th anniversary with a massive North American headline tour last summer. The “Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour” began in Bend, Oregon on July 26 and stopped at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Live Nation produced most dates. On all dates, Jerry Cantrell and CANDLEBOX were special guests.
Bush released “Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023” on Round Hill Records in November 2023. Gavin wrote and Rossdale and Britz produced “Nowhere To Go But Everywhere” for the set.
With over 24 million records sold, one billion streams, and a string of No. 1 hits, Rossdale, Chris Traynor (guitar), Corey Britz (bass), and Nik Hughes (drums) are rock outliers whose influence grows with time. “Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023” (Round Hill Records), their first greatest-hits collection, covers nearly 30 years of their career with 21 songs, from “Everything’s Zen” to “Nowhere To Go But Everywhere”.
“Loaded” featured tracks from all nine of Bush’s studio albums, “Mouth” (The Stingray Mix) from “Deconstructed” from 1997, and a 2012 limited release cover of THE BEATLES’ “Come Together”.
After breaking up in 2002, Bush regrouped in 2010 and produced five albums: “The Sea of Memories” (2011), “Man On The Run” (2014), “Black And White Rainbows” (2017), “The Kingdom” (2020), and “The Art Of Survival”.
“Black And White Rainbows” was written after Rossdale divorced Gwen Stefani in 2015.
