Bruce Springsteen explains why ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ is “a miracle”

In a recent conversation with Jeremy Allen White held at the Spotify headquarters in London, Bruce Springsteen described the filming of the upcoming biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere as a “miracle”.

The film depicts the New Jersey rocker attempting to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past as he records the 1982 album, NebraskaAdolescence actor Stephen Graham plays Springsteen’s father, who stars in many scenes with the young actor, Matthew Anthony Pellicano, who plays Springsteen as a young boy.

Often, Springsteen would spend time on the set, watching the project unfold. During the joint interview, Springsteen discussed the strangeness of seeing his familiar childhood home, which had been rebuilt for the project.

He shared, “There’s a section of the film where we go back to the house I grew up in… it was quite a miracle. It’s a home I still visit regularly in my dreams.”

Springsteen had a complex reaction to watching his vulnerability captured on screen. He added, “My sister held my hand throughout the film and said, ‘Isn’t it wonderful that we have this?’”

Elsewhere, White admitted that a lot of the mental health themes in the film are very familiar to him. ‘The Boss’ had previously admitted to White that he “had this moment where I felt like an outsider and observer in my own life.” White could relate.

The Bear star shared previously, “When he told me about that, that feeling of being an observer of your own life, that was very familiar to me. I remember when I found acting, there was a lot of like, I think like, chaos and confusion, just a lot going on. I couldn’t focus on myself. And I found acting, and I found some peace and I found some focus.”

Bruce Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is set for release on October 24th.
