Paul Stanley, co-founder of the legendary rock band KISS, has shared heartbreaking news about the loss of a longtime member of his inner circle, as reported on X (formerly Twitter).
The rock icon announced the passing of Danny Francis, who served as his head of security, close friend, and assistant for three decades.
“Danny Francis [head of security], my dear friend, assistant and so much more for 30 years of tours and life has died after a brutal fight with liver cancer,” Stanley said. “He was loved by Erin and all my children and his kindness was given to everyone he came in contact with.”
Stanley’s tribute highlighted the deep personal connection Francis had with his family and the warmth he extended to everyone around him.
“My condolences to his entire family,” he continued.
Francis’s death marks another devastating blow to the KISS family during an already difficult time.
Men’s Journal reported that Francis passed away on October 26, 2024, just days after the funeral of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. The timing of these losses has created a particularly painful period for the band and its extended family.
Francis had been an integral part of the KISS organization since joining the band’s crew in the 1980s. Metal Wani noted that he played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the band throughout major tours including Revenge, Psycho Circus, Alive/35, and the farewell End of the Road tour.
Throughout his 30-year tenure with KISS, Francis became more than just a security professional. He was a trusted confidant to Stanley and a beloved figure among the band’s touring family, known for his kindness and dedication to everyone he encountered.
The loss of Francis represents the end of an era for KISS, as the band continues to navigate life after their final tour. His contributions to the band’s safety and success over three decades of touring will not be forgotten by the KISS community.
