Megadeth Drops First New Single ‘Tipping Point’ from Final Album

Megadeth has released “Tipping Point,” the first single from their upcoming final album, as announced on Megadeth’s YouTube channel.

The band made the announcement with a cryptic message that hints at the song’s intense theme.

“There’s no return, now you’ve crossed the line,” the band stated in their official announcement. “‘Tipping Point’ out on Friday.”

The release of “Tipping Point” marks a historic moment for the thrash metal legends as they prepare to close a remarkable chapter in heavy metal history.

BraveWords reported that the band’s self-titled final studio album “Megadeth” is scheduled for release in January 2026. A farewell tour will follow that will mark the end of their decades-long career. The single represents the first track featuring guitarist and composer Teemu Mäntysaari in Megadeth, as Chaoszine noted.

The upcoming album is expected to showcase a return to the band’s thrash metal roots. It stays true to the aggressive sound that made them one of the “Big Four” of thrash metal. The current lineup on “Tipping Point” includes founding member Dave Mustaine, Teemu Mäntysaari on guitar, James LoMenzo on bass, and Dirk Verbeuren on drums.

An official music video for “Tipping Point” was released alongside the single. It is now available on YouTube and Spotify. ThePRP highlighted that the song features the intense, aggressive themes that have been consistent with Megadeth’s style throughout their career.

The January 2026 album release will serve as the band’s swan song before embarking on their farewell tour, bringing closure to one of heavy metal’s most influential acts.
