Queen celebrate 50 years of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ with vinyl reissue

Queen will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 1975 album A Night At The Opera, which contained the epic track ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, with new vinyl reissues.

A Night At The Opera will return on crystal clear vinyl with gold labels on October 17th, while ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ will enjoy a Halloween release on transparent blue vinyl, alongside a picture disc and cassette edition.

Reflecting on the success of the seminal album, Brian May shared, “We truly felt like we could try anything at that point. As songwriters, we were challenging each other and competing with each other in the best possible way.”

The album reached number one in five countries at the time, including the UK. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘ spent a record-breaking nine weeks at number one in the UK; when it was re-released following Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991, it once again reached number one in the UK.

Queen’s Roger Taylor also weighed in on the album half a century on, sharing, “We were at the peak of our confidence. It felt like there wasn’t anything we couldn’t do, and it shows on that album.“

He added, “It’s such an eclectic album. It’s mad and it’s wonderful and it’s got a bit of everything in it.”

Both reissues will be released worldwide on Universal. In the US, they will be released through Hollywood Records.
