Matt Sorum Claims He Found the Singer Who Can Save Rock’s Future

Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum has made bold claims about discovering rock music’s potential savior after attending a recent concert. He shared his thoughts in a post on Instagram.

Sorum’s enthusiastic endorsement focused on British artist Yungblud’s performance at the Hollywood Palladium. He described it as potentially historic for rock music’s future.

“Happy to report there is hope In the world of Rock N Roll, truly inspired and blown away by Yungblud’s gig at the Hollywood Palladium last night,” Sorum said. “If you were there you know what I mean.”

The veteran drummer praised both the performance atmosphere and the artist’s stage presence.

“The room was electric and the crowd was insane,” he continued. “The energy all came from the stage as Yungblud brought it. He is a pupil of RNR and has done his homework.”

Sorum went on to compare Yungblud to rock’s greatest performers. He suggested the young artist has learned from the masters while developing his own identity.

“He’s studied the greatest frontmen…Freddie,Tyler,Jagger,Iggy,Idol,Plant,Bowie,Axl,Weiland and of course Ozzy and now he has discovered himself and is unleashing it on the world,” he said. “I will go so far as to say I saw something historic last night and the world needs this. Congrats Dom you are going no place but up!”

Sorum’s praise comes at a pivotal moment in Yungblud’s career. The British artist continues to establish himself as a major force in contemporary rock music.

Rock News reported that 2025 has been a breakthrough year for Yungblud. This was particularly evident after his standout appearance at the Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning farewell show, where he covered “Changes” and paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne by wearing an all-black outfit. This performance demonstrated his deep respect for rock’s legends. It aligns with Sorum’s observation about the artist studying the greatest frontmen.

The timing of Sorum’s endorsement coincides with Yungblud’s latest creative output. Wikipedia noted that his recent album Idols was released on June 20, 2025. The album marks a personal and ambitious work that showcases his artistic evolution. The album includes singles like “Zombie,” which has garnered significant attention and features a music video starring Florence Pugh. This further cements his crossover appeal beyond traditional rock audiences.

Beyond his musical performances, Yungblud has shown commitment to nurturing the future of rock music. Gibson revealed that he has been working on Bludfest, a festival aimed at providing an inclusive and affordable experience for fans. This initiative highlights his dedication to making live music more accessible to younger audiences. It potentially addresses some of the challenges facing rock music’s future.

Yungblud’s approach to music creation also reflects his reverence for rock’s golden era. Rewind STL documented that the singer has expressed his desire to make music that captures the essence of Led Zeppelin. This demonstrates the same appreciation for rock history that Sorum highlighted in his Instagram post.
