Chrissie Hynde Shares Honest Review of Oasis Reunion Shows

Chrissie Hynde recently shared her thoughts on Oasis’s reunion performances, offering praise for the band’s return to form in a statement posted on Instagram.

The Pretenders frontwoman attended one of the shows alongside guitarist James Walbourne and Johnny Marr. She provided her perspective on both the performance and the overall experience.

“James and I went with Johnny Marr to see Oasis the other week. They were great as one would expect,” Hynde said.

She also described the social atmosphere at the venue. She highlighted encounters with other notable figures in attendance.

“Saw a bunch of old pals in the audience and was dancing with Kate Moss to support act, the excellent-voiced Richard Ashcroft. I always remind Kate that she missed her calling, and could’ve been a singer. She reminded me that, ‘For me, it was either Woolworths or modeling,’” she continued. “Because Kate rarely does interviews (unlike every other celebrity on the planet), people don’t know what a riot she is. Well, she is, and now you know.”

Hynde concluded her review with strong praise for Oasis’s performance style and stage presence.

“Oasis were in great form. There is still nothing better than a rock band doing their thing with a minimal light show and no extra people cluttering the stage. In other words, a proper fucking rock band! Exactly what the world needs now,” she said.

Hynde’s endorsement comes as the band continues their highly anticipated comeback tour. The tour has captured global attention and broken numerous records since its launch.

Wikipedia reported that the reunion tour, officially titled Oasis Live ’25 Tour, began on July 4, 2025, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The tour is scheduled to run through November, spanning multiple continents including North and South America, Australia, and Asia. The tour marks Oasis’s first live performances since their 2009 split. It has already set records with multiple sell-out shows.

The scale of the tour’s success has been unprecedented. The Record Hub noted that the band performed seven shows at Wembley Stadium alone, where over 600,000 fans attended. This massive turnout demonstrates the enduring appeal of the Manchester band. It validates Hynde’s assessment of their continued relevance in the rock music landscape.

Beyond the artistic success, the economic impact of the reunion has been substantial. PredictHQ projected that the tour will generate over $173 million in local spending across the UK and Ireland alone. Fans have driven up hotel prices in cities like Dublin. They have significantly boosted revenue for restaurants and transportation services during the 17 shows.

The tour’s cultural significance extends beyond mere nostalgia. It represents a moment when veteran rock acts can still command massive audiences and critical respect. Hynde’s praise for their “minimal light show” and authentic rock band approach reflects a broader appreciation for bands that prioritize musical performance over theatrical spectacle. This reinforces the timeless appeal of straightforward rock music in an increasingly complex entertainment landscape.
