Sir Rod Stewart’s wife, Penny Lancaster, has emotionally revealed the rock legend’s fears over his recent health scare that threatened to end the chances of one major career highlight.

The iconic singer battled through a difficult month, culminating in a triumphant return to Glastonbury Festival last month, — a moment he’ll no doubt cherish as a pinnacle of his illustrious career.

Rod Stewart’s much-anticipated comeback on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage was shrouded in uncertainty after health issues forced him to reschedule and cancel several performances.

In a candid Instagram update earlier last month, Sir Rod informed his fans about the postponement and cancellation of his US tour dates, having been struck down by a severe strain of influenza, which Penny referred to as the “worst” kind.

However, eager not to take all of the credit, he quickly turned the praise around, affectionately telling Penny: “I couldn’t have done it without you.”

The couple’s romance began back in 1999, following Sir Rod’s separation from his former wife, Rachel Hunter. After an eight-year relationship, they exchanged vows in the idyllic setting of Portofino, Italy, on June 16, 2007.

Following a bout of what Penny described as the “worst” flu, Sir Rod is now gearing up to take his music on a global tour.

Fans can look forward to seeing him perform across the US, and then in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria later this year.
